June 14, 2006 at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) was a beautiful sunny day filled with excitement, activity, and happy faces. In fact, there were 425 happy faces filled with enthusiasm and purpose representing business owners; speakers, exhibitors, and matchmaker participants from state and federal government agencies and major corporations.
What precipitated this whirlwind activity -- the 15th Annual Procurement Expo, sponsored by the NJ Small Business Development Centers and hosted at the RVCC. Thanks to all of you the Expo was an overwhelming success! Thank you to all who helped to make this a special day: Expo Planning Committee, Volunteers, Corporate Sponsors, Exhibitors, Workshop Speakers, Plenary Session speakers, Matchmaker Participants; 300 small business persons who attended and a special thanks to our Silver Sponsor, Turner Construction Co. We thank our exhibitors, workshop speakers and sponsors for sharing your knowledge and expertise about the procurement process and for preparing the business owners for upcoming contract opportunities.
Programs such as this help the small business community to increase their knowledge of the contracting process; overcome fear and anxiety about the process; increase their success ratio at winning contracts and successfully completing contracts; encourages potential business partnerships; all leading to increased revenue and employment and improving the overall economic climate of the State.
While we continue to receive excellent feedback; I ask that you, both exhibitors and small businesses, keep me informed of any contracts, subcontracts or purchase orders won between your organizations over the next year.
