The New Jersey Retail Merchants Association (NJRMA) is a not for profit business organization, located in Trenton, the state capital. NJRMA is currently in its 35th year of operation, representing and protecting the retail industry in New Jersey. As the voice of the retail industry in New Jersey, NJRMA provides a critical link between retailers and all of state government. The Association was formed in 1967 by a group of retailers who were extremely concerned about the thousands of bills and regulations developed by the Legislature and state agencies every year that directly impacted their business. This mission continues today as we ensure that the retail industry does not fall victim to onerous legislation in New Jersey’s full-time Legislature, which introduces over 20,000 bills in a single two-year session.
The Association’s membership is made up of more than 3,500 stores from across the state. NJRMA serves both large and small retailers, from multi-state chains to local independents and serves all types of merchants including apparel, furniture, home improvement and drug stores.
NJRMA manages the New Jersey Council of Chain Drug Stores, which has 14 chain drug company members with over 1,000 pharmacies in New Jersey.
